As a pioneer in the health data industry, Cade was among the first to urge organizations
to use EDI claims models when very few in the industry even understood the term
or future impact it would bring. He developed one of the first fully automated claims
workflow, which was utilized by self-insured and self-administered companies, most
notably Wal-Mart. After years of working on the claims automation side, he founded
Ecom PPO Advisors, Inc and grew it into an industry leader. Ecom was based on devising
a more effective method of PPO selection, one of which has become widely accepted
as an industry “best practice” and one for which he was granted a patent pending
on the algorithms he developed. He later enhanced this approach to again lead the
industry with the Member-Level PPO Selection, which substantially minimizes “out-of-network
claims” and “white space” for payer-owned networks. For his vision he was awarded
a U.S. Patent for his work on selecting PPOs, and was granted two other patents
pending on PPO selection and management. In addition to advances he oversaw for
leading clients, Cade has served the industry in leadership roles such as the American
Association of Preferred Provider Organizations' board of directors. He retired
as CEO of Ecom in September 2009.
Prior to the healthcare industry, he served as chairman and chief executive officer
for a distinctive array of organizations for a period of 20 years. His extensive
experience includes banking, aviation, mergers and acquisitions, investment banking,
and venture capital, as well as the effective use of technology to improve business
operations. Havard’s unique, entrepreneurial spirit and his ability to translate
his visionary ideas into realistic, viable business tools have proven to be a successful
combination.
